“What are you doing Timmy?” Penny asked in an anxious tone of voice.
“I am jumping over the fence to see what’s on the other side,” Timmy replied cheerfully.
“But you can’t do that,” cautioned Penny, “what if there’s a big dog or a wild monster over there?”
“Nah, I don’t think so. And if there is, well, all the more exciting. I’ll go an’ find out,” Timmy said determinedly.
“I am scared Timmy, please don’t go over there,” Penny replied in a worried tone of voice.
“Well, if that’s so then why don’t you come with me and see for yourself. We’ll go together. Two are better than one, right?” Timmy asked calmly.
“I… I don’t know. Well… well maybe there are no monsters. Maybe there are ponies on the other side… right?” Penny answered, still slightly anxious but with a certain cheery anticipation.
“Right. Maybe there is a magic kingdom over there, an adventure land full of fairies and unicorns and all kind of magical creatures. Maybe… maybe there’s an evil King reigning over it and we go and help the poor little, um, Gubbers fight him… and we fight the dragon.. and we…”
“DRAGON?” Penny cried out.
“Well, ya, maybe there’s a dragon… but maybe he is friendly after all… you know… like in that story about the boy and his friendly flying dragon. Maybe we can ride on his back and he’ll take us to the other side where the crystal towers are and we can find some help. Doesn’t that sound exciting?”
“Hmm, can’t we just ride over on a pretty horse and I can stroke it’s mane? And along the way we’ll pick up some pixie dust from the reed fairies and sprinkle it all over the horse and weee, start flying through the puffy clouds in the sky… to the crystal towers. Oh how exciting would that be!” Penny’s eyes started to glow and her expression turned happy with anticipation.
“Yeah, I guess we can fly on a pixie dust horse too,” Timmy replied a little hesitant. “Anyways, it’ll be lots o’ fun,” he said with a big smile on his face.
“Ok, we’ll go together then,” said Penny
“YAY,” cheered Timmy.
“Oh, and Timmy?”
“Yes?”
“What are ‘Gubbers’?”
“Oh, they’re the little enslaved people of the magic kingdom. They are…”
