“Come, come follow me,” Tunny the hedgehog said.
“Where to?” Cilia asked.
“To the other side, there to,” Tunny replied
“What other side? I only see a puddle of water,” Cilia said disbelievingly.
“Well the other side, the other side! The world of your dreams my dear!” The little hedgehog pointed towards the puddle with his paws, a playful smile on his face.
“I don’t have dreams.”
“You don’t have dreams?” Tunny asked somewhat astonished.
“No, I don’t.”
“Not one?”
“No.”
“Not even an itsy bitsy tiny one?”
“No, they are all gone, all of them – all of them,” Cilia said with sad eyes.
“But – but what happened to them? Did you lose them?”
“They just faded – they were stupid. I have to be practical. Dreams aren’t practical, they are foolish.”
“Dreams are wonderful, dreams give you hope child.”
“I have no hope. It went with them. They are gone and they left me here, all alone,” Cilia said, her lips quivering, her eyes becoming watery.
“Oh, I see,” Tunny said looking at the puddle, immersed in deep thought. After a moment of silence he said “I make a deal with you. You reach deep down inside your precious heart and find one last dream. No no no, just an echo of your last dream, that’s all you need. And you hold on to it and follow me to the other side. And once we’re there follow that echo and see where it may lead you. See, like this.” He threw a little stone into the water and Cilia watched as colorful circles emerged, listening to the deep, soft plunging sound that reverberated gently in her soul.
“I… I am not sure… Wait, I hear something… voices, familiar voices.” A faint glimmer appeared in her teary eyes.
“Yes, follow the echo, don’t be afraid.”
