Spring, I await you
Like a sparrow on a branch
Waits for seeds dropping

One of our many “pets”. We have been providing a constant supply of bird seeds throughout this fairly harsh winter via a small bird feeder attached to our living room window. The sparrows have certainly been the most numerous beneficiaries (and the most lively ones as well). We’ve also had several House Finches and American Gold Finches though they were usually crowded out by the sparrows. In addition we watched the occasional Turtle Dove, Blue Jay and even a Woodpecker make some feeding attempts, despite the fact that the feeder is for small birds only (they still managed to hang on and get a few seeds out). It’s definitely time for spring now though and the weather has finally been cooperative.
