Powerful forces with a gentle touch

22 Jul

Thunder as loud as giant cannons fired next to your ears.
Lightning searing the retina, tearing the sky apart.
Watergates opening, a torrent raging down to earth
Determined to wash away all traces of life.
A thousand trains racing by, earth shaking, trembling.
What if it would thunder a thousand times more
And lighting kept on striking relentlessly,
Earth trembling, trees splitting, mountains crumbling?
But
Gently
Smoothly
The sounds fade,
Red light rises over an onyx forest
Reflecting under a thick purple cover.
Light shines from the west, saturated orange, warm yellow.
The air is heavy with the smell of sweet flowers, wood and rain.
Mist rising from the ground like ghosts of the past, memories eternal,
Dancing to the rhythm of the distant drums.
And as the day fades the last liquid crystals fall from the sky,
Transparent pearls saturating the soil, dripping from leaves,
Streaking down the skin – powerful forces with a gentle touch.
