On the other side
There is a light
On the other side
That's where it's bright
On the other side
There is much delight
I can smell the ocean breeze
Coming through with such ease
I can feel the sunshine warm and tender
Touching my face with summer's splendor
It is all on the other side, the other side, it's not right
And so I stand and wonder, watch and linger
As if through unknown forces entrance is denied
Should I carefully touch with just one finger
As I stand and peer through keyhole rock?
Or should I pass on through
Onto
Unlock
The chains of doubt and fear?
Thus it is here where I decide
If I should go on to the other side
Where there is a light
Sunshine bright

Oh how i miss my days of running around the rocky shores of MA’s Cape Ann! Yes, you should go on to the other side and write and tell us how it is!

I like the description of sun being tender. In the last line, the repeated description of the sun is really interesting in comparison, and I can’t decide if the sun being bright is good or bad… sort of like the speaker here, yeah? Very cool. My poetry skills are in poems for children. Your words are like a fresh breath — thank you for that.

Thank you very much for the comment Katie and apologies for the belated reply. I relate to your hesitation to decide whether the sun being bright is good or bad. Decisions are difficult at times; something may appear so much better, brighter, nicer, on the “other side”, but that may not always be good. For example I tend to burn easily in full on sun and the bright light hurts my eyes, something that needs to be carefully considered beforehand. Decisions are often tough to make, especially if we don’t know what to expect or if we think we know even though we don’t.
