I shall forever be autumn’s child

Here it comes, that first chill in the air, that blue messenger from the north, the first silver light that filters through fading green. Barely noticeable, summer’s final days have arrived. Softly the trees begin to sing their farewell songs. Autumn’s first breath passes along their crowns, carries with it ocher and sienna and burgundy notes of goodbye as it slowly unravels their emerald garments. I welcome you, bringer of scarfs and woolen coats, of knitted gloves and padded boots, for my heart beats in rhythm with your racing winds, my soul embraces your twilight, you, bringer of early sunsets and brisk starry nights. Here, in the corridor of ethereal sights, hallway of mysterious lights, I shall walk beside you and breath in your mossy, earthy fragrance, that smell of pumpkin desserts and mushroom soups. For rain or shine, storm or gentle chill, I shall forever be autumn’s child.

Flightless bird

Flightless bird
Hopping through the grass
Flightless bird
Hopes to see me pass
Flightless bird
Don’t be afraid to spread your wings
For summer’s breeze
Will carry you with ease
Flightless bird
Don’t let the worries of the ground
Keep you from flying free, unbound
Listen to the sound
Of all those taking to the sky
Flightless bird
Don’t be shy
Go, go way up high

In the distance shadows play

Sunset in the city
In the distance shadows play
Upon brick and stone
