Life is a matter of focus, originally uploaded by Thorsten Becker.
Sometimes seemingly trivial things can take on a meaning of their own. The leaf in the foreground seems to be rather insignificant. It is withered and dead. The building in the background is the headquarter of a large bank in northern Germany. To me this picture symbolizes how we tend to lose our focus, concentrate on money and wealth rather then on little things, those that are deemed worthless, unimportant or of no use by the powers around us. Just like the leaf we all wither and die one day. However, it did and still does possess an inner beauty and complexity unique to itself, just like we do. Who will notice us?

I can’t tell you how much this post touched me. I HAD to leave a comment. I have seen most people around me with their eyes fixed only and only on corporate success. People and situations are all judged by this same yardstick. Mercifully there are the rest of us who can inspire and show light to each other, like your post just did. Thank you :)
Thank you Vineeta! I think it is easier than ever to get caught up nowadays in the pursuit of happiness through wrong means. We’re constantly being bombarded with messages, advertisements, paroles and opinions telling us what we need to do and acquire, accumulate and pursue in order to fit in, to be noticed and to be part of one or another trendy group. Most of it is connected to some form of commercial and materialistic ideal. It is very easy to lose our way when only a few things really matter. Ones happiness does not come from the things he/she owns but what they give to others, give of themselves. I think it crucial to see each other not for what we own, what titles we carry or what positions we have but for who we are, deep inside. I find it important to pay attention to my and everyone else’s spiritual needs. That, to me, is what truly matters. Again, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, it really made my happy in turn.
