Jadis, the White Witch

Jadis, the White Witch, originally uploaded by Thorsten Becker.

"The White Witch?" said Edmund; "who’s she?"
"She is a perfectly terrible person," said Lucy. "She calls herself the Queen of Narnia though she has no right to be queen at all, and all the Fauns and Dryands and Naiads and Dwarfs and Animals—at least all the good ones—simply hate her. And she can turn people into stone and do all kinds of horrible things. And she has made a magic so that it is always winter in Narnia—always winter"

From The Chronicles of Narnia – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
by C. S. Lewis

I think we’re actually living in Narnia and the white witch is ruling with icy fist, because it is snowing yet again. According to statistics we’ve had more snow in the past two months than we usually have all winter. I believe that. And if it keeps up like that it’ll be snowing well into March and maybe even April. It’s not that I dislike winter or snow, quite the opposite. As a child I was out first thing in the morning when it was snowing, even riding my bike; lots ‘o fun. But when you live out in the country (where there are no sidewalks) and depend on the car for the most basic things (such as grocery shopping) it can get slightly maddening (especially when the driveway is frozen solid and the tires spin free like the wind). So here’s hoping that Aslan will get to Jadis rather sooner than later.

The White Witch has been in our neck of the woods since November- she can go elsewhere now. Happy Spring!
