Legend of the Star Fish, originally uploaded by Thorsten Becker.
In the beginning kingyo* played joyfully amongst the stars of the heavens, swam and raced through the gas clouds and cosmic dust and brought a smile upon all the heavenly creatures that watched her. And as the creator proceeded to give the universe form kingyo curiously observed a little blue planet taking shape. And she laughed and giggled and jumped and rolled as the clouds separated from the waters below and light shun upon the service of the blue planet. And she watched in awe as giant sea creatures came about and filled the wast oceans. And land began to rise from the sea bed and mountains came about and kingyo proceeded to draw closer to watch the creators work. And seas and lakes and rivers and streams came about as the waters started to flow down from the mountains. Her heart jumped as all the land dwelling animals came forth, making their abode amongst the large trees of the field. All sorts of walking and flying and crawling things began to fill the earth’s surface while the oceans kept filling with the creatures of the depth. And then man came into existence. And man proceeded to give each creature a name according to it’s habit, to the way it went about walking, sleeping, eating and procreating. And man rested next to the smaller bodies of water, though they were devoid of any live. And kingyo started to feel sorry that man had nothing to enjoy in the little waters so she asked permission to visit and keep man company in his days of solitude. And the creator agreed so that kingyo may visit from the stars and bring a smile upon man’s face whenever he looked at the pond beside him. And to this day kingyo, the golden fish from the stars, curiously watches us, joyfully playing in the little waters, making us smile.
